How to Make Bells Fast by Selling Turnips in ACNH
Sunday Buying – The One Chance You Get
Every Sunday morning, from 5 AM to noon, a little pig named Daisy Mae shows up on your island. She sells turnips. That's your only chance to buy for the whole week.
What You Actually Need to Know
- Turnips cost between 90 and 110 Bells each. If she's selling for 90–95 Bells, buy as many as you can carry. If it's 100+, still buy some – just maybe not your life savings.
- A full inventory (40 slots) holds 4,000 turnips. That'll cost you around 360,000–400,000 Bells.
- You can dump them on the floor of your house or outside. They don't go in storage.
The One Big Rule
They rot in one week – exactly at 5 AM next Sunday. Sell them before Saturday night, or you'll have a pile of garbage.
When to Sell – The Simple Version
Nook's Cranny changes its buy price twice a day: morning and afternoon, Monday through Saturday.
Here's the only pattern you need to know:
- If your price goes down for the first few days, don't panic. That's actually good. It often means a huge spike is coming.
- Never sell on Monday or Tuesday. I don't care if Timmy offers you 150 Bells. Just wait.
- The best prices usually show up Wednesday through Friday. Sometimes as high as 400–600 Bells per turnip.
- If it's Thursday afternoon and your price is still lower than what you paid? You're in a "bad week." Don't wait. Go sell on a friend's island (more on that in a second).
That's it. You don't need to calculate weird percentages or memorize four pattern types. Just:
Down first = good. Still down by Thursday = run.
The Real Money Trick – Other People's Islands
Here's the secret that made me millions in 10 minutes:
You can sell your turnips on other people's islands.
If a friend – or even a stranger online – has a high price, you fly over, walk into their Nook's Cranny, and sell. Their price, your turnips.
How Much Can You Make?
Example: You bought at 95 Bells. Your friend's island is buying at 520 Bells. That's 5.5x your money. A full inventory (4,000 turnips) becomes over 2 million Bells. In one trip.
Where to Find These People
- Discord servers (search "Animal Crossing turnip exchange")
- Reddit: r/acturnips
- Turnip exchange websites (just be smart – don't pay huge entry fees)
Most hosts will ask for a small tip – maybe 10% of your profit or a couple Nook Miles Tickets. It's fair. They're sharing their lucky price with you.
The #1 Way to Ruin Everything
Do not time travel backwards while holding turnips.
Backwards even one minute? They rot instantly. Forward in time within the same week is fine. Past Sunday? Also rot.
I learned this the hard way. Don't be me.
What If Your Turnips Rot Anyway?
It happens. But don't throw them away.
Drop one rotten turnip on the ground outside. Wait a few minutes. You'll see ants crawling on it – one of the rarest bugs in the game. Rotten turnips are the only way to catch them. So even your failure has a silver lining.
One Last Thing – Don't Be Greedy
I've seen people hold out for 600 Bells and end up selling at 50. A 200–300% profit is amazing. Take it.
The turnip market is generous, but it's also random. The players who make the most money are the ones who buy every Sunday, watch their prices, and aren't afraid to visit a friend's island.
So next Sunday, when Daisy Mae shows up with her runny nose and her giant backpack, don't walk past her. Buy a few thousand turnips. Wait a few days. And when the price feels right – sell.
You've got this.
