IconHow to Earn and Use Hotel Tickets in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update introduced the Resort Hotel, adding a new gameplay loop centered around interior design and a brand-new currency: Hotel Tickets.

Hotel Tickets unlock exclusive items and even provide access to a lesser-known gameplay feature tied to Kapp'n. Here's a clear breakdown of what Hotel Tickets are, how to earn them efficiently, and where they're best spent.

What Are Hotel Tickets?

Hotel Tickets are a Resort Hotel–exclusive currency that can only be earned through hotel-related activities. They cannot be purchased with Bells and are used primarily for:

  • Resort-exclusive furniture and collectibles
  • Special items sold through the hotel
  • A hidden bonus related to Kapp'n's Boat Tours

How to Get Hotel Tickets

There are three main ways to earn Hotel Tickets, all unlocked once the Resort Hotel becomes available.

1. Decorating Hotel Rooms

Each day, players can renovate up to two hotel rooms, earning 200 Hotel Tickets per room.

Efficiency tip:

You only need to place one piece of furniture to complete a room.

If the room has a theme, the item must come from the Recommended tab.

Even if the design is extremely basic, you still receive the full reward.

Daily total: up to 400 Hotel Tickets with minimal effort.

2. DIY Requests at the Pier (Main Farming Method)

Outside the Resort Hotel is a Donation Box linked to the DIY Requests system.

  • Craft requested DIY furniture or cooking recipes
  • Submit them via the box
  • Kapp'n delivers the items and rewards you with Hotel Tickets

Rewards range from 25 to over 250 Hotel Tickets, depending on the complexity and quantity required.

Bonus rewards include:

  • Extra Hotel Tickets for completing request milestones
  • Occasional bonus payouts if a request becomes “popular”

This makes DIY Requests the most scalable way to earn Hotel Tickets.

Players who frequently complete these requests may want to prepare crafting materials commonly used for DIY Requests to save time.

3. Inviting Visitors to Stay (VIP Rooms)

When you encounter visiting NPCs on your island, you can recommend the Resort Hotel.

Choosing to renovate a VIP Room rewards 300 Hotel Tickets, which is significantly higher than standard room options.

As with regular rooms, placing just one piece of furniture is enough to complete the task.

Where to Spend Hotel Tickets

Hotel Tickets can be spent in two places—one obvious, and one surprisingly hidden.

1.Grams' Souvenir Shop

Located in the Resort Hotel lobby, Grams' Souvenir Shop is the main place to spend Hotel Tickets.

  • Available from the first day you renovate a hotel room
  • Offers Resort-exclusive items across multiple categories
  • Each day, two items are displayed in the lobby at a 30% discount, with instant delivery

For higher-cost items, waiting for the daily display discount is strongly recommended.

2.Hidden Feature: Kapp'n's Second Boat Tour

After renovating at least one VIP Room, players unlock a hidden benefit.

Once you've taken a standard Kapp'n Boat Tour (normally costing 1,000 Nook Miles), speaking to Kapp'n again allows you to take a second Boat Tour for just 100 Hotel Tickets.

For players who regularly use Kapp'n's tours to gather materials, this offers excellent value compared to spending Nook Miles.

Why Hotel Tickets Matter

Hotel Tickets are more than just a furniture currency. They connect interior design, crafting, and island exploration into a repeatable system that rewards both casual and efficiency-focused players.

Understanding how to earn and spend them effectively can significantly improve long-term progression in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
