IconACNH Scorpio Season: Star Fragments, Meteor Showers, and Zodiac DIYs

Scorpio season runs from October 24 to November 22 in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. During this period, players can collect Scorpius Fragments by wishing on shooting stars and use them to craft the Scorpio Lamp, the zodiac furniture associated with this season. If you want to complete the seasonal DIY, you will need to know when shooting stars appear, how to collect fragments efficiently, and where to find the recipe.

ACNH Scorpio Season Guide: Star Fragments and DIYs

When Is Scorpio Season in ACNH?

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Scorpio season lasts from October 24 through November 22. This is the period when wishes can yield Scorpius Fragments, which are needed to craft the Scorpio Lamp.

Shooting stars do not appear every night. Isabelle may announce a large meteor shower during morning announcements, but smaller groups of shooting stars can also appear on nights without an announcement. If you are trying to collect Scorpius Fragments, it is worth watching the sky whenever you are playing during the seasonal window rather than waiting only for an announced meteor shower.

How to Find Meteor Showers and Wish on Shooting Stars

Shooting stars can appear between 7 PM and 4 AM. When they appear, you can hear a distinctive twinkling sound and see bright streaks crossing the sky. Large meteor showers produce frequent shooting stars, making it easier to make multiple wishes in one night, but you can also make wishes when individual shooting stars appear.

How to Make a Wish

Follow these steps when you hear or see a shooting star:

  1. Put away your tools and other held items. Your character must have empty hands to make a wish.
  2. Look up at the sky. Tilt the camera upward using the right control stick so you can see the stars.
  3. Press A when a shooting star appears. If the timing is correct, your character will perform a wishing animation.
  4. Repeat whenever more stars appear. Listen for the shooting-star sound to help you react, especially if you are not already looking at the sky.

You do not need to wait for a meteor shower announcement to try this. Isabelle's announcement is useful when a large shower is scheduled, but shooting stars can appear on other eligible nights as well.

When and Where to Collect Star Fragments

After making wishes, check your island's beaches the following day. Star fragments wash ashore over time, so you may need to walk along the beach more than once to collect everything that appears.

You can collect up to 20 star fragments from your own wishes. When visitors wish on shooting stars while visiting your island, their wishes can increase the total to as many as 40 fragments. These figures refer to the overall fragment collection, not to a guaranteed number of Scorpius Fragments.

The fragments that appear can include regular Star Fragments, Large Star Fragments, and zodiac fragments. The exact types and quantities are random, so making more wishes does not guarantee that every fragment will be a Scorpius Fragment.

Which Star Fragments Can You Get During Scorpio Season?

Wishing on shooting stars can produce different types of fragments, each with its own uses in crafting.

Fragment type Details
Star Fragment A standard crafting material used in many space-themed DIY recipes
Large Star Fragment A less common fragment required for certain DIY recipes
Scorpius Fragment A zodiac fragment associated with Scorpio season, from October 24 to November 22

Scorpius Fragments are the seasonal materials required for the Scorpio Lamp. If this is the item you want to craft, make wishes throughout Scorpio season and collect the fragments that wash ashore the following day. Since fragment drops are random, it may take more than one night to gather the two Scorpius Fragments required by the recipe.

How to Get the Scorpio Lamp DIY Recipe

The Scorpio Lamp is the zodiac furniture item for Scorpio season, and Celeste is a key source of its DIY recipe. Speak to her whenever she visits your island.

Celeste gives you the Star Wand DIY on your first visit and can provide other eligible space-themed or zodiac recipes on later visits. During Scorpio season, the unlearned Scorpio Lamp recipe may take priority. If you have learned all the recipes she can offer, she may give you crafting materials instead. During this period, there is a 20% chance of receiving a Scorpius Fragment when you qualify for a material reward.

Celeste's visit does not guarantee a meteor shower, and shooting stars can appear without her. Check for both separately if you want to collect star fragments.

Scorpio Lamp Crafting Recipe

After learning the DIY recipe, gather the following materials to craft the Scorpio Lamp:

Material Quantity
Star Fragment 3
Scorpius Fragment 2
Gold Nugget 2
Stone 5

The two Scorpius Fragments are the materials most directly tied to the seasonal event. Star Fragments, Gold Nuggets, and Stone can be collected through regular island activities, so you can gather those materials while continuing to look for shooting stars and zodiac fragments.

Other Ways to Get Scorpius Fragments

Wishing on shooting stars is the main way to collect zodiac fragments, but there are additional opportunities if you need more materials or have not yet learned the Scorpio Lamp recipe.

Kapp'n's Marvelous Mystical Tour

Kapp'n's Marvelous Mystical Tour can take you to a special island with rocks that may drop Scorpius Fragments. Each of the two relevant rocks has a 7% chance of dropping a Scorpius Fragment when hit.

This method is not available on every boat tour, and the drops are random. It is best treated as a supplementary source rather than a reliable way to farm a specific number of fragments. If you reach the relevant island, make sure to check both rocks before leaving.

Check Message Bottles on Boat-Tour Islands

Message bottles found on Kapp'n's boat-tour islands can contain DIY recipes, including the Scorpio Lamp recipe. If you have not learned the recipe yet, check any bottles you find while exploring these islands.

The contents are random, so a message bottle will not necessarily contain the Scorpio Lamp DIY. Nevertheless, checking bottles is worthwhile when you are already taking boat tours, especially if you are still working toward completing your zodiac furniture collection.

Tips for Completing the Scorpio Lamp

Start collecting Scorpius Fragments early.

Scorpio season lasts until November 22, and fragment drops are random. Making wishes on multiple nights gives you more opportunities to collect the two zodiac fragments needed for the lamp.

Do not rely only on announced meteor showers.

Large showers are convenient, but smaller groups of shooting stars can also appear without an announcement from Isabelle.

Check the entire beach the following day.

Fragments wash ashore over time, so revisit the beach to collect any that appear later.

Check your DIY collection before gathering extra materials.

If you already know the Scorpio Lamp recipe, focus on collecting the required Scorpius Fragments and the remaining crafting materials instead of spending time looking for the same recipe again.

Use alternative sources when available.

Celeste's material rewards and Kapp'n's relevant special island can provide additional opportunities, but neither guarantees a Scorpius Fragment every time.

Scorpio season is a limited window for collecting Scorpius Fragments through the usual seasonal wishing method. Keep making wishes when shooting stars appear, check your beach the following day, and use Celeste's visits and special boat tours as additional opportunities to complete the Scorpio Lamp.

Happy collecting, islanders! May you find all the Scorpius Fragments you need to craft the Scorpio Lamp.
